H. Smith & Sons (Honingham) Ltd has a long standing history of undertaking construction work for the public sector and looks towards continuation of this. Work has been undertaken for both local authority housing and education departments.
Expereince of working for the Public Sector
We have undertaken several projects for the public sector over the past twenty years. Some examples of these projects are discussed below; further details can be found in the case studies section of this website.
Lynn Grove VA High School
Numerous developments at Lynn Grove VA High School, Gorleston, including. new Drama Block, new Technology Block, new Science Block, Dining Room Facilities, Learning Resource Centre, Sports Hall and Year 7 Transfer Block, all constructed as design and build from outline proposals. Full presentation of the proposals were prepared by our own architects and consultants to provide a finished package for the school. Work was carried out over a nine year period in four phases.
New Dining Hall and Music Block, Dereham Neatherd High School, Dereham
Formation of School Dining Hall, with classrooms above, within confined courtyard at Dereham Neatherd High School. Project also incorporated complete redesign and construction of front entrance, car parking and coach pickup areas. Undertaken under a partnering arrangement with Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Property Services.
Science Block, Litcham High School, Litcham
The construction of 48 dwellings on a Partnership scheme where the land was owned by South Norfolk District Council. H. Smith & Sons undertook the development and handled the sales. Pricing structure was geared to allow people from the housing list to purchase for the first time.
Eight Class Bases, Litcham High School, Litcham
Construction of new 8 classroom block at Litcham High School, undertaken under a partnering arrangement with Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Property Services.
Acle Primary School, Acle
Construction of a two classbase extension, staff accomodation, together with re-formation and extending the external hardplay area.
