To this end we have often advised on construction details within the context of the design brief, offered advice on buildability to establish the most cost efficient construction options.
Expereince of Design and Build
We have undertaken several Design & Build Projects over the past twenty years. Some examples of these projects are discussed below; further details can be found in the case studies section of this website.
Richmond Close, Honingham
9 no. executive houses Richmond Close, Honingham built on land owned by a local farmer under licence with agreed building and land costs, profits made on the selling price were divided proportionately.
Station Road, Martham
16 dwellings, Martham near Great Yarmouth built under a licence agreement similar to the above.
Ashill Development for Peddar's Way Housing Association
24 dwellings Ashill for Peddar’s Way Housing Association. Final design proposals agreed with housing association’s directly employed project managers and scheme built to design criteria set by the Association’s architect.
Lynn Grove VA High School
Numerous developments at Lynn Grove VA High School, Gorleston, including. new Drama Block, new Technology Block, new Science Block, Dining Room Facilities, Learning Resource Centre, Sports Hall and Year 7 Transfer Block, all constructed as design and build from outline proposals. Full presentation of the proposals were prepared by our own architects and consultants to provide a finished package for the school. Work was carried out over a nine year period in four phases.
Hethersett Village Hall
New Village Hall at Hethersett from initial outline design and criteria. Final scheme was selected in competition with others. We were selected based on the method of construction employed and how the design layout achieved the facilities required. Architect and all consultants were engaged under the control of H. Smith & Sons.
Litcham Development for Peddar's Way Housing Association
2 no. new bungalows and conversion of Old King’s Arms Public House Litcham into 2 no. flats for Peddar’s Way Housing Association
Cawston Development with Flagship Housing Association
9 no. dwellings for Flagship Housing Group at Cawston built on land owned by H. Smith & Sons. Package presented to the Housing Associations project manager was based on how well the project was designed and how the costs compared to the grants available.
Sparham Development with Flagship Housing Association
6 no dwellings at Sparham for Flagship Housing Association on land owned by the group but developed similar to the above.
